Local Toy Drive Benefits Gadsden County

Quincy, FL - (December 3, 2009) - For the third consecutive year, the Gadsden County Chamber of Commerce will be working with Tri-Eagle Sales on an holiday toy drive to make Christmas complete for many Gadsden children by giving them their own toy gift. The Gadsden County Men of Action will spearhead the toy collections for the Gadsden County Toy Drive in partnership with Tri-Eagle Sales and the Chamber.

Tri-Eagle Sales will collect toys for the Gadsden County Toy Drive until December 17 at their office located at 545 River Birch Road in Midway. Local businesses and caring members of the community are encouraged to join Tri-Eagle employees' support the drive by dropping off new, unwrapped toys to Tri-Eagle Sales weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the donation period.

"We are committed to giving back to our community," said Kristen Black, the director of community affairs for Tri-Eagle Sales. "And, we know with the support and generosity of the people and businesses in Gadsden County we can make a big difference in the amount of toys collected for needy children this holiday season."

The Chamber will accept donations at its office located at 208 North Adams Street in Quincy until December 17. Members of the Gadsden County Men of Action will also be obtaining donations throughout the area. Those interested in donating new, unwrapped toys after December 17 should contact Reverend Tony Hannah of the Gadsden County Men of Action at (850) 875-2610 or (850) 556-3055.

"We are happy to be able to help the children in our community enjoy this holiday season," said Michelle Burdick, the Chamber's vice president of membership. "We're also thankful for business leaders like Tri-Eagle Sales and organizations like the Men of Action who are willing to do whatever they can to give back to local families in need."

At the end of the toy drive, the Gadsden County Men of Action will collect the donations to deliver to chosen county-wide service groups such as the Capital Area Community Action Agency, PAEC Migrant Programs and other organizations.

"During these difficult economic times when so many of Gadsden County residents have lost jobs and are struggling to meet their basic needs, the generous efforts of the Gadsden County Chamber, Tri-Eagle Sales and the Men of Action to ensure that the youngest members of these families will have a bright and happy holiday is greatly appreciated," stated Dorothy Inman-Johnson, the executive director of the Capital Area Community Action Agency. "With Capital Area Community Action Agency providing food vouchers for a wonderful holiday meal and help with other household needs, the toy project will make this a very happy holiday season for all. We extend sincere thanks for their spirit of caring and giving, the perfect example of what this season is all about."

"Many families in our county are dealing with an economic crisis; ultimately having an impact on the children. Each gift will help lift the spirit of our children by instilling in them that they live in a caring community," said Maria Pouncey, the PAEC migrant coordinator.

Between 2007-2008, Tri-Eagle Sales and the Chamber gathered 688 toys in their annual toy drive. The Gadsden County Toy Drive was created to guarantee that local donations would be given to Gadsden County children.
